Bio

Chris is a performing artist, private vocal coach, beginner piano and guitar teacher, and certified Ontario secondary teacher. He is voice coach for the Toronto Northern Lightssings tenor with  quartet Maple Reserve, teaches music at Taddle Creek Montessori School, and works as a soloist and section leader for Armour Heights Presbyterian Church. He is also a budding arranger and emerging clinician, having worked with several choruses and music programs around Ontario to provide workshops in music, singing, performance, and particularly barbershop-style music.
Chris began singing at a very young age with his elementary school choir, and was singing the Christmas concert solos by 6 years old. He’s always ready with a smile and a song to bring cheer to others with his voice! He studied for a time at St. Michael’s Choir School in downtown Toronto, where he learned many of his foundational musical skills. After graduating high school, Chris went to study at Wilfrid Laurier University, where he met the men who would eventually become his bandmates in Safe, Then Sorry. Playing bass guitar, keys, and singing with them for many years following, Chris discovered barbershop music in his final year of studies at Laurier, and quickly dove into the Barbershop Harmony Society. He sang for several summers with the Waterfront BIA’s Singing Ambassadors, and for several winters with the Candy Cane Carolers. In the last two years, Chris began singing with Chroma Vocal Ensemble, an ambitious new chamber choir in Toronto under the direction of Mitchell Pady.
A certified Ontario teacher, Chris graduated in 2014 with his B. Ed. from University of Toronto‘s Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, and is qualified with Intermediate / Senior education in English and Philosophy. He intends to continue to pursue life-long learning with additional qualifications in Music, the Social Sciences, and Drama. He taught at Taddle Creek Montessori School from 2014 to 2026, culminating in 5 years as the music teacher there and at its sister school High Park Gardens Montessori, where he designed, planned, and implemented the music programming for multi-aged classrooms for both schools, for students aged 1 year old up to 12 years old. He continues to teach music, literacy, and life in varying capacities with multiple positions in different organizations, and is gainfully employed and self-employed.
Having spent many summers running day camp programming, Chris has a lot of experience with running theatre / drama programming both for kids and also for community groups. He worked with Brant Theatre Workshops in his young adulthood programming their summer camp, running tech for indoor and outdoor performances (lighting and sound design), stage management, and acting. After working with several start-up groups, Chris eventually brought his talents back to his hometown of Toronto where he worked with Alexander Showcase Theatre (AST) for several productions, most recently culminating in an exciting experience as Vlad for the musical Anastasia. He recommends shows with AST any time, as they are always wonderful both to be a part of and to be an audience for! Chris loves to bring his acting experience to the fore in his performances.
Chris collaboratively coordinates the marketing for his own pages, as well as for his performance groups – Maple Reserve, Northern Lights, and Oxford Comma – and writes the newsletter for the Ontario District of the Barbershop Harmony Society. He operated social media while working as a Singing Ambassador with the Waterfront BIA and also for several theatre companies he has worked with in the past. He is happy to lend his expertise in this area for your business!
A well-connected performer, Chris knows many performers besides those in the groups he performs with, and if you are looking for something unique for your event, he would be happy to work with you to bring the right talent together! Whether you’re looking for calming lounge music at a relaxed social event, a band, or even a flash mob, Chris is willing to help you find the right fit for your needs.
